Yao Liu selected as 2016 Alliance for Eye and Vision Research Emerging Vision Scientist

Dr. Yao Liu has been selected as one of 20 Alliance for Eye and Vision Research Emerging Vision Scientists for 2016. These emerging researchers were selected from a national group of applicants to educate federal legislators regarding the importance of vision research. The researchers will meet with legislators this September in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Yao Liu spoke at a UW Health "Saving Sight Session" on April 21 on the topic of Telemedicine: Saving Sight at Home and Around the World. In this community lecture, she discusses expanding access to eye care through telemedicine, particularly for diabetic eye disease in Wisconsin's rural communities. National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable article discusses UW Health's journey to 80% colorectal cancer screening rate

Dr. Jennifer Weiss is featured in a recent blog post by the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable. In it, Dr. Weiss discusses how UW Health increased its colorectal cancer screening rates from 61% to 81% over the last six years. She also discusses her research to identify predictors of colorectal cancer screening variation and barriers to screening, as well as lessons learned in the improvement process.

Several HIP investigators were named in the Best Doctors in America® list for 2015-16. The list results from a validated peer review process in which doctors who excel in their specialties are chosen by their peers. You can read more about the selection and review process, as well as view the list of the over 200 UW Health physicians who are on the list, on the UW Health website.

Congratulations to Dr. Nancy Pandhi and her research team on winning the Patient Choice Award for their Dane 1 in 4 work. The winning poster, titled "Engaging the Community in Identifying and Prioritizing Outcomes for Integrated Primary Care Behavioral Health," was presented at the annual North American Primary Care Research Group in October.
