Dr. Maureen Smith, Founding Director of the Health Innovation Program (HIP), is retiring as of July 1, 2024. Dr. Jessica (Ying) Cao in the Department of Population Health Sciences will step in as interim director.
HIP was launched in 2006 to transform healthcare delivery and population health across the state and nation through health systems research that partners University of Wisconsin faculty with healthcare and community organizations. Over the past 15 years, HIP has supported hundreds of faculty, staff, and students to achieve their research and career development goals. HIP achieved these goals through providing collaborative working groups focused on specific data or topics, grant writing groups for research and career development awards, innovative data sources through strong partnerships with healthcare and community organizations, and national dissemination mechanisms for toolkits and high-value research products through HIPxChange.
All ongoing projects with HIP will continue to be actively supported by the HIP team, under the direction of Dr. Cao. HIP continues to encourage those interested in collaborative research grant applications using HIP data resources to reach out to tracking@hip.wisc.edu for more information. HIP is open to collaborating on new grant applications beginning with the February 2025 submission dates. All previously-submitted grants that are planned for resubmission in the Fall 2024 will continue as planned and will not be affected.
