Dr. Patterson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine. His research examines the effects of Emergency Department resource utilization within the context patients' overall interactions with the healthcare system.  His current work focuses on using big data approaches to identify clinical factors which influence returns to care after Emergency Department visits, with the long term goal of improving coordination between ED, inpatient, and outpatient settings.
